Description

Barbra Streisand stars in and directs this musical adaptation of a story by Isaac Bashevis Singer, a moving, turn-of-the-century tale of a young Jewish woman (Streisand) who wants an education studying religious scripture, an activity that is restricted only to men - forcing her to disguise herself as a man and complicating the lives of everyone she loves. Mandy Patinkin and Amy Irving costar in this lavish, "Fiddler on the Roof"-style period piece, nominated for four Academy Awards.
